Parade Rules

By applying below, you are agreeing to the following Parade Rules


1. The Zulu Mardi Gras parade will begin at 8:00 am on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at Jackson and S. Claiborne Avenue.


2. The New Orleans Police Department and the Zulu Parade Officials and Marshal will control all parade activity.


3. All loading and boarding will take place at the Zulu-designated staging site, (date and time TBA). The only exception to the above is that of the King, Queen, Pages, and Soulful Warriors. They will board on S. Claiborne Avenue & Clio Street.


4. All riders must be fully costumed with black face, white eye, white mouth, grass skirt, gold shoes, and safety belt upon boarding the float. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!


5. While loading throws onto the floats, no trash will be thrown out at the staging site or in-route to Jackson and S. Claiborne Avenues or on parade route


6. Throwing of coconuts during the Zulu parade is STRICTLY PROHIBITED. Coconuts will only be given out hand to hand.


7. Coconuts will not be allowed on the upper decks of the floats in the Zulu parade. Any person caught with coconuts on the upper deck is subject to a $500 fine per coconut.


8. Smoking is not allowed while riding on the float.


9. It is unlawful to participate in the Zulu parade while intoxicated.


10. All riders will be required to sign insurance forms and hold harmless clauses prior to riding. The parade chairman will set a time deadline.


11. All non-Zulu member riders will pay a rider’s fee as stipulated by the Zulu Board of Directors and the General Membership. (Including Associate Members, they will also pay the rider’s fee)


12. The minimum age of a participant in the Zulu parade as a float rider is 16 years old.
